Frequently Asked Questions

General Info

What is The Waterwheel Vineyard?
We’re a laid-back, family-run vineyard in the Hudson Valley, offering estate-grown wines, wood-fired pizza, and beautiful countryside views. Come sip, relax, and stay awhile!

Do I need a reservation?
Walk-ins are welcome, but we do recommend reservations for larger groups or special celebrations, especially if you want guaranteed seating.

What are your hours?
We’re open Fridays from 4PM - 9PM and Saturdays and Sunfays from 11 AM to 6 PM. You can arrive anytime during that window, and your reservation or gathering just needs to wrap up by closing time.

How long is a reservation?
Most reservations are for 90 minutes. If you book the last reservation of the day, it is only an hour long time slot. After you time slot is up, you do have to forfeit your table for the next reservation but you do not have to leave the property.

Are kids and dogs allowed?
Yes! We’re kid-friendly and dog-friendly. We want everyone to enjoy the vineyard.

Can you picnic?

We do allow you to bring your own blankets and hang out! However please remember that we do not allow outside food and beverages.

Food & Drink

Can I bring my own food or drinks?
We do not allow any outside food or beverages. But don’t worry, we have cheese boards and delicious wood-fired pizza available, and we’re adding even more fun food options soon! We do not allow outside food and beverages for small gathering/parties as well.

Can I bring a dessert or birthday cake?
Yes! You’re welcome to bring a dessert or cake for your celebration. Just don’t forget a lighter if you’re doing candles.

Do you have gluten-free or vegetarian options?

We do have gluten free pizza dough and crackers for our cheeseboards. We also have cauliflower pizza crust as a vegetarian option. We do not have vegan food at this time.

Do you do pizza to go?

Absolutely!! We've been told we have some of the best pizza in the area. We do not take phone orders, so come on down, order a pizza to go and sip on a glass of wine while you wait.

Do you have beer or liquor?

We are working on getting some local beer here at the vineyard. Join our email list, check back frequently on our website and social to stay up to date for when that happens. We do not have liquor and do not plan on it.

Group Visits & Celebrations

Can I have a birthday or small gathering at the vineyard?
Absolutely. We love hosting low-key celebrations like birthdays, bridal showers, or girls’ days. Just give us a heads-up so we can reserve the right space for you. You can make a reservation online for up to 25 people, 60 days out. If you'd like to make a reservation for larger than that, please reach out to see if we can accommodate you.

Do I need to put down a deposit?
Nope! We don’t require a deposit to reserve a table or space for a small celebration.

What kind of decorations are allowed?
We keep things simple and natural here. You’re welcome to bring balloons, small table decorations, disposable goods like themed napkins, or tablecloths (just ask us a few days in advance for table sizes). Please leave confetti, glitter, noise makers or anything too elaborate at home.

Do I need to clean up after my gathering?
You’ll just need to clean up any decorations or personal items you brought in. Our staff will take care of clearing the food and drink.

Can I book the vineyard for a private event?
While we’re primarily open to the public on Fridays - Sundays, we do offer a limited number of weddings and large private events. These are typically hosted outdoors and customized to fit the natural vibe of the vineyard. Reach out for more details!

Events & Atmosphere

Is there live music?
Yes! We often have live music on Saturdays to set the vibe. Check our social media for updates on who’s playing.

Is the seating indoors or outdoors?
All seating is outdoors, so dress accordingly and bring a hat or sweater if needed. We have umbrellas for shade and some covered options.

Is the vineyard wheelchair accessible?
We do our best to accommodate everyone, though please note the grounds are rustic and mostly gravel or grass. Let us know in advance if you have specific accessibility needs.

Can I just stop by for a glass of wine?
Of course! Whether you’re here for a full gathering or just want to enjoy a quiet glass, we’re always happy to have you.
